Drop/Add and Course registration – Spring 2023
Review your Fall 2022 grades and adjust your Spring 2023 course registration as needed during the drop/add period.Review checksheets from previous advising appointments in Campus Connect or consult yourAcademic Requirements Reportto to check your requirements.
Spring 2023 drop/add begins Saturday, January 7, at 12:01 am EST and ends Thursday, January 12, at 11:59 pm EST.The first day of classes is Monday, January 9.
Students who have not registered for at least one (1) credit hour prior January 9, at 12:00 am EST, will be charged a $100 late registration fee. Any appeals or disputes about this fee must be made to the University Registrar’s office, not academic advisors or the Academic Affairs office.
Schedules will be final, and students will be both grade and fee liable for any courses on their schedule after drop/add ends.
Advising pro-tip:Many students try to register or change courses as soon as drop/add begins and on the first day of classes. Student Center may experience registration errors or slow loading at peak times. This is especially common on the first day of drop/add as registration opens at 12:01 am usually through 2:00 am or later and on the first day of classes from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm or later.
Meeting with a COSSPP academic advisor
Florida State University is closed for the winter break December 21 – January 2. All offices including COSSPP Academic Affairs and Academic Advising will reopen with regular business hours on January 3, at 8:00 am EST.
January 3-6
Virtual drop-in advisingwill be available each day throughCampus Connectwith the exception of the afternoon on each January 4 and January 5, due to new student Orientation.
Drop/Add Week (January 9-13)
Drop/Add ends January 12, but open Zoom call advising runs through January 13.
All COSSPP advising services will be available via a moderated open Zoom call.

- Sign in to speak with an advisor from 8:30 am – 11:30 am EST and 1:00-3:30 pm EST each day.
- You must be signed into Zoom through your FSU account to access the call. See the“Authentication issues” sectionon our Drop/Add information page for assistance.
- There may be an extended wait timebefore being admitted to the drop/add Zoom call depending on how many students are in line.
Spring 2023 semester
Beginning January 17, our regular semester advising services and hours resumethrough Campus Connect.
- Scheduled appointments (virtual or in person) will be available Monday-Thursday.
- Virtual drop-ins will available Monday-Friday. Sign in through Campus Connect and you will be sent information to join an advisor’s Zoom call on a first come basis. There may be an extended wait period.
Advising pro-tip:Plan ahead for future semesters after drop/add ends. The second to fifth weeks of the semester tend to have lower advising volume and shorter drop-in wait times.
Planning to graduate in Spring 2023?
You must apply to graduate in the semester in which you plan to complete your degree.
- Toapply for graduation, you mustat minimumbe on track to have 120 earned, unduplicated credit hours at the end of the Spring 2023
- Tograduateat the end of the semester, you must satisfactorily complete with minimum required grades and credit hours all university, General Education, major, minor (if required), or other applicable degree requirements.
The Spring 2023 graduation application will be open through myFSU Student Center January 17-27, 2023. You cannot apply prior to January 17.
Instructions on how to apply for graduation are foundon the University Registrar’s website. The COSSPP Commencement ceremony will be Saturday, May 6, at 9:00 am (review the full University schedule).
Advising pro-tip:Remember that participation in Commencement ceremonies at the end of the semester is not the same as graduating. Final graduation clearances happen after grades post the week following the end of the semester.

The University Academic Calendar can be found each semester onthe Registrar’s website. Be sure to review all dates and deadlines at the beginning of and throughout the semester.
Important dates and deadlines during Spring 2023:
- January 3 – University reopens at 8:00 am EST following winter break
- January 4-5 – New student orientations – no open afternoon advising availability
- January 7 – Drop/Add begins at 12:01 pm EST
- January 9 – First day of Spring 2023 classes.$100 late registration fee if not previously registered for at least one credit hour
- January 12 – Drop/Add ends at 11:59 pm EST
- January 16 – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day – university offices closed
- January 17-27 – Spring 2023 Graduation Application open –instructions on the Registrar’s website.
- January 20 – Tuition and fee payment deadline
- February 24 – Seventh week deadline – last day to request S/U grading or drop courses without Dean’s permission
- April 7 – Twelfth week deadline – last day to request one-time late drop with Dean’s permission
- May 1-5 – Final Exam week
- May 6 – COSSPP Commencement ceremony (Donald L. Tucker Civic Center, 9:00 am EDT)
